Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful.....

We had our first snowfall of the year last night....well actually we are still having it as it's been snowing since the early evening yesturday. Normally we get little to no snow here so to see this when we got up this morning was a real treat. Needless to say I don't think we'll be going anywhere for a while.....now let's just hope the power stays on and then maybe we will be able to enjoy this unexpected winter hiatus.

It's electric!!!

So last week we had some big storms pass through and ended up losing our electricity for an astounding 22 hours! I think that was the longest it's been out in the area in quite a few years. Let me just say that being in a basement suite on well water during a blackout is not something I'd do again in a hurry. Needless to say as soon as Jeff got off work we rushed over to my parents' house which was also out of power but at least had warm running water and a flushable toilet.
Well now a couple days ago the wind started to pick up and the sky was full of black clouds. I just couldn't resist taking sime photos.
you can actually see the storm changing and the rain coming in the distance. It happened within a matter of minutes.
and then in the time it took me to upload the first few pics to my computer the rain was pelting against my window. But you can see that the sky had lightened and that was pretty much the worst of it. I just so thankful the power stayed on this time.

First Cold

Poor Oliver has his first cold. I feel so terrible for him. It's hard to watch your baby struggling and not being able to tell you how awful he feels. Hopefully it won't last long. He's gotten a lot of rest today so maybe it's on it's way out...

Christopher Robin
Had wheezles
And sneezles,
They bundled him
Into
His bed.
They gave him what goes
With a cold in the nose,
And some more for a cold
In the head.
They wondered
If wheezles
Could turn
Into measles,
If sneezles
Would turn
Into mumps;
They examined his chest
For a rash,
And the rest
Of his body for swelling and lumps.
They sent for some doctors
In sneezles
And wheezles
To tell them what ought
To be done...

...Christopher Robin
Got up in the morning,
The sneezles had vanished away
And the look in his eye
Seemed to say to the sky,
"Now, how to amuse them today?"

Snuggled

I just had to share this photo of Oliver all snuggled in his sling. I've been carrying him around in it since he was about three weeks old and more often then not he's fast asleep within 5 minutes. Now that he's getting older he often likes to look around when we go for walks or to the store. I loved how cuddly he was in this picture. It's a highlight in the many adventures in motherhood.
